Britain's incredible sitcom actors have been able to showcase their talents across everything from traditional family comedies to wartime farces. |

You have to subscribe to the site’s newsletter to find out out who the top actor in British comedy tv series is, but it HAS to be John Cleese, who was so great portraying the “slightly” toffee-nosed Basil Fawlty on “Fawlty Towers.”
Honestly, many of the other British actors on this list I have never seen perform, except for the great Rowan “Mr. Bean” Atkinson. However, I was surprised that many of the other outstanding actors on British sit-coms were not also included, including Dame Patricia Routledge, Clive Swift, Geoffrey Hughes and Josephine Tewson, among others, from “Keeping Up Appearances” were not included on the list. I also think that Dame Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer from “As Time Goes By” and Richard Wilson and Annette Crosbie from “One Foot in the Grave” and also Stephanie Cole and Graham Crowden from Waiting for God” were all superb in their respective tv shows. And, don’t get me going on how all of the actors (with far too many to cite here) were outstanding in “Last of the Summer Wine” (but, I HAVE to specifically mention Bill “Compo” Owen, Peter “Norman Clegg” Sallis and Kathy “Nora Batty” Staff). They were all superb in this very long-running and popular British comedy series. |

It's a shame that John Cleese isn't in the Top 10. He was very funny on Fawlty Towers and Monty Python's Flying Circus. Personally, he's my favorite British actor.
