Default Lisa Whelchel on 'Facts of Life' ending 35 years ago

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/...131856377.html

Lisa Whelchel, known to '80s kids as Blair Warner, reminisces with us about The Facts of Life, which went off the air in May 1988.

This was great… and I do hope Lisa, Kim, Mindy and Nancy are still close. There were too many years there to throw away.

Can Collector’s Call be watched online anywhere? I’d love to see the episode with Charlotte Rae’s collectibles.

I still want to see them doing a 20-30 minute conversation about the news that Mrs. Garrett is dead. "The Facts of..." They can do it in zoom chat.

Based on the comments section in this video, the idea of having Blair take over as headmistress at a now co-ed Eastland was never going to work. Of course, I'm assuming that had The Facts of Life continued beyond here, that was what the main focus of the show was going to be.

For one thing, the whole idea of Eastland being a run down school seems very random, don't you agree? Especially considering that wealthy people have been sending their daughters there. Eastland is suppose to be this very prestigious and elite school, so don't you think that it would have a large endowment? Otherwise, it would've forever lost its reputation even if it somehow managed to survive closure.

It also doesn't appear to make much sense from a continuity perspective because wasn't Blair leading up to this point, prepping to be a lawyer?

Blair was way too young to be a headmistress.

Exactly she was studying all those years to be a lawyer and even got a job as an intern the last season in a law firm. It was like they couldn't make up their mind how to end the show and then suddenly decided to maybe try a backdoor spin off with Blair at Eastland?

If you saw the episodes where she goes to law school, you will see why her legal career went nowhere.

I don't think they ever explained what happened to her tenure as headmistress at Eastland.

I'm pretty sure she says in the reunion movie that she had sold the school

That reunion movie was too corny for me to want to watch it much. Should have brought Sue Ann in as the 4th girl after Nancy McKeon declined to do it.

It would have been nice with the complete cast, even with the surviving members of Diff'rent Strokes
