Former Girlfiends star Reggie Hayes has been struggling

For the past week, the 51-year-old Hayes has been in a hospital battling congestive heart failure. It's the latest setback for Hayes, who -- aside from recurring on Hart of Dixie and guest appearances on NCIS, Black-ish and Kidding -- hasn't acted much since Girlfriends ended in 2008. “I had starred on this long running show but I wasn’t Matt LeBlanc or one of the other kids from Friends who had doors opening for them after their show ended. Pretty much, I was just another guy," he says. There had been talk of a Girlfriends spinoff starring Hayes, but that never materialized. “I was getting a lot of winks and nods about that, and it just didn’t work out," he says. Hayes is glad, though, that Girlfriends has recently joined Netflix. "With Girlfriends on Netflix and everybody talking about it again, it’s a really nice warm feeling," he says.
