There was also, a pre-Who's the Boss Judith Light as Steven's attractive co-worker, a pre-Married...with Children Christina Applegate as a member of Jennifer's band, River Phoenix as Alex's tutor, Geena Davis as the Keatons' housekeeper, Karen, a young Joseph Gordon-Levitt as one of Andrew's kindergarten classmates, and a pre-Seinfeld Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Also, Michael J. Fox's Back to the Future co-star Crispin Glover guest starred about a year prior as one of Alex's buddies.

Off the top of my head Tom Hanks would be the most famous one. Obviously Courtney Cox would become big in Friends several years later. Will Wheaton and River Phoenix also appeared on Family Ties, before the 1986 movie Stand By Me was released, making them child stars.

At least two cast members of The Goonies appeared on Family Ties, Martha Plimpton and Jeff Cohen.
