I remember that show, and liked it. However, I would most likely rent the eps from Netflix rather than buy the series unless I found it in a bargain bin somewhere.

Cool Pass the daisies, please!

I remember seeing "Please Don't Eat the Daisies" in first-run in 1965-66. Watching Pat Crowley raise the TV version of the Nash family led me to read the best-selling book on which it was based, written by Jean Kerr. She was a pioneer in the field of "housewife humor" (think Peg Bracken and the "I Hate to..." series of books, and most definitely Erma Bombeck), and was also a successful playwright ("Mary, Mary.")

Even as a teenage boy, the thought of being a delightfully offbeat and eccentric person fascinated me! Some 49 years later, I'm glad I took the time to "eat the daisies" the way they did on TV!

BTW, the title refers to the night Jean Kerr had told her four sons a litany of things to do and not do when she and her husband were entertaining guests. As she put it, she didn't tell them not to eat the centerpiece of daisies she was using on the dining table. Sometime later she came back to find--

"...a charming three-point arrangement of green stems."

I have never seen this show and I would like to see this someday. I saw the lead actress in an episode of "Roseanne" from 1995. It'll be interesting to see this show.

Still no DVD's for Please Don't Eat The Daisies so I imagine there must be some issues/problems with the episodes that are preventing a DVD release. Does anyone know if Warner Archive still intends to release this series or have they given up on it?

It looks like there are rights issues related to music.

An interesting sidebar, awhile back there was a discussion on this site to determine the oldest show where all the main cast members are still alive, Please Don't Eat The Daisies was identified as that show (of course we are talking human cast members). To this date that is still true (I hope I don't jinx anything). It's not that surprising the kids are alive but, Mark Miller is 96, and Pat Crowley is 86.

No news as far as DVDs, but I thought I would let fans know that several episodes from both Seasons 1 and 2 have been uploaded to YouTube over the past 2 months or so. Picture quality varies, unfortunately sometimes poor.

Pat Crowley is stunningly beautiful -- I like her Season 2 hairstyle!

Thanks for heads up; I remember the show fondly even though I was still a pre-teen at the time.

Just giving this thread a bump to say that I recently purchased a 36-episode "best of" PDETD set from the Thomas Film Classics site (the source is old VHS tapes that they've apparently cleaned up a bit and transfered to DVD - beggars can't be choosers). Even though I haven't completely given up on an official complete series release someday (hope springs eternal!), because of my deep affection for this show, I'll take whatever I can get for now.
