Dick, 97, lost control of the car before slamming into the gate, leaving the actor with a bloody nose and possible concussion.

The accident occurred on Wednesday morning in Malibu and police officers arrived at the scene to find Dick behind the wheel of his Lexus LS 500, reports TMZ.

The Mary Poppins star told the cops he his car had skidded in the rain and he lost control of the steering before the Lexus smashed into the gate.

The crash came nearly ten years after Dick was involved in another car crash which saw him rescued from his burning Jaguar in Los Angeles.

In his latest crash, Dick was treated at the scene by paramedics as he was suffering from a bloody nose and mouth as well as a possible concussion. Dick was not sent to hospital and was picked up by a friend and driven home.

Sources told TMZ that drugs and alcohol were not involved in the crash, but police officers have requested a driving retest for Dick due to his age.

The crash came ten years after Dick was pulled from his Jaguar after it caught fire on the 101 freeway in Calabasas are of LA, on August 19, 2013.

A man named Jason Pennington saved the day after spotting the car full of smoke on the side of the road.

Pennington told TMZ at the time that he saw an elderly man hunched over the wheel of the vehicle and rushed to the scene.

He pulled up and saw the actor struggling inside after running over to the smoking car.

Dick did not require medical attention after the incident, although he was apparently slightly disoriented.

If he possibly had a concussion, he should have been taken to the hosp. or his doctor.

He definatly needs to stop driving!

Wow! Many prayers he will be OK ! At his age being in a car accident would be horrible !

As stevea indicated, you would think that the wise thing to do would be to get him to a hospital to be checked out, the paramedics could've treated him on the way -- inside their ambulance. Let's hope he's OK, and maybe he'll realize he needs people to be driving him places.

I find that men usually have a much harder time just giving up the keys to stop driving than women do.

Totally agree!! And with his money he could easily hire a really good, reliable, personal chauffer!

Yes! And are embarrassed to ask people for rides! Also feel funny taking taxis more so than women !

But with his money, a good, reliable personal chauffer would be a really cool thing !

How is Dick Van Dyke doing? I didn't even know something had happened to him until I was looking at Youtube videos and I saw the headline that Dick had been in a car crash. Why this happened to him i'll never know and he SHOULD'VE watched where he was going and kept his eyes on the road. He is lucky he didn't get badly injured but I do hope he learns his lessons and hires a driver to take him places because that's the wise and smart thing for celebrities to do
