Default How did Nickelodeon come up with the silver ball logo from the 80's?

I was doing my new hobby of researching and discovering facts about television logo histories and I found an old Nickelodeon logo that featured a silver ball and it appears to have been used between 1982 til 1985 when the classic orange Nickelodeon logo made it's debut and I wonder how Nickelodeon came up with this logo? Another thing I researched about this logo was that it also had a theme song with lyrics too. Why Nickelodeon didn't bother to make a new version of this logo instead of the current logo is just a surprise to me. It's amazing how Nickelodeon's logo had evolved from this logo to the orange logo to the classic splat logo to the current logo and I think Nickelodeon should think seriously about making a new version of the classic silver ball logo in the future

I think the early Silver Ball logo for Nickelodeon from the 80's should've stayed because it showed how well Nickelodeon was progressing to attract the new generation of 80's kids that would watch the channel. I don't know why Nickelodeon decided to go with the orange logo because when I watched Nickelodeon I thought the orange color seemed odd and they should've made it sky blue rather than orange because to me I think they thought orange would be a marketable color for Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon should've brought back a new version of the Silver Ball logo instead of the current logo because that would've been a welcome return for that logo because it is a classic logo for Nickelodeon. I also can't figure out how Nickelodeon came up with the famous splat logo because it looked very odd and I truly think this logo is where Disney got inspiration for the character Splat in Strange World and they copied it but colored it blue. I'm surprised Nickelodeon didn't sue Disney for using the splat logo to create the character Splat in Strange World

They got rid of that logo because The then-new leader of Nick (Geraldine Laybourne) wanted to take Nick in a different direction. The channel was a money-loser and was placed dead last in the ratings. She hired the team of Fred Seibert and Alan Goodman and they made the logo. The logo was made to help them get rid of the stigma of the previous years.

It lasted for a whopping 25 years.

That's a pretty amazing fact about Nickelodeon's famous Silver Ball logo Frank. I think if it wasn't for Alan Goodman and Fred Seibert Nickelodeon would've gone belly up but if they hadn't changed the logo to the now classic orange logo Nickelodeon would not be successful now. I also learned that the same guy that created the famous orange logo for Nickelodeon also came up with the famous animated MTV logos and wanted to use the same idea for Nickelodeon's new logo too

The origin of the silver ball logo is discussed at about the 7:56 mark in this video.
