Quote:
Brady Bunch and Partridge Family both have that 70's vibe, but both shows only ran till 1974. Other 1970's sitcoms have a 70's vibe too, for example Bob Newhart, Mary Tyler Moore, Sanford And Son, but I believe All In The Family is the quintessential one. When discussing genres, I would say that cop shows fit the 1970's most because the 70's is more known for cop/detective shows, with the sitcom genre second. |

I put two shows in bold below, one sitcom and one not-sitcom.
Sitcom: I would go with All In the Family as well. I'll also mention Welcome Back, Kotter, The Odd Couple, and One Day at a Time as having real '70s flavor. Drama: Eight Is Enough and Family. Honorable mentions: The Waltons, Little House on the Prairie though they don't really "scream" '70s as they're period series. Horror/Suspense: The Night Stalker Adventure/Superhero: Wonder Woman and The Incredible Hulk (originally Wonder Woman was set in the WWII era though). Cops/Detectives: Hawaii Five-O. Also The Rockford Files, The Streets of San Francisco, and Baretta. Variety: The Carol Burnett Show. Also Sonny & Cher. Western/Frontier: Kung Fu (again though a "period" series). Finally I have to mention M*A*S*H and Happy Days as dominant '70s series, but being set in earlier eras like a few others I mentioned. |
