DECADES to get a new name (Catchy Comedy) and a new lineup in March

I loved Decades when I had it, this new channel I have zero interest in. I'm glad the cable company didn't add it back.

The Weigel Broadcasting digital network Decades is rebranding to Catchy Comedy March 27. With a tagline of “Catch All the Laughs,” the network will feature classic sitcoms.

Daytime during weekdays, it features female-driven comedies, featuring the likes of I Love Lucy, The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Carol Burnett Show. On weekday primetime it’s “Norman Lear’s Catchy Classics,” including Good Times, Sanford and Son and All In the Family. Late night, it’s “Smart and Catchy Sitcoms”, including Night Court, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Cheers, Taxi and The Bob Newhart Show.

Each weekend offers “The Catchy Binge,” a different comedy marathon.

“Catchy Comedy is a celebration of the very best in classic television comedy and will showcase and celebrate a who’s who of funny women and TV legends,” Weigel vice chairman Neal Sabin said. “We are excited to bring an all-comedy approach with this exciting rebrand of Decades evolving into Catchy Comedy. Weekdays we will showcase hilarious series with a strong appeal to women, or with female characters that redefined and expanded the role of women in television. Then in primetime we will feature groundbreaking comedy and characters from the legendary Norman Lear, and in late nights we will present some of the smartest and best written comedy series on television. Viewers really will be able to ‘catch all the laughs’ on Catchy Comedy.”

When it comes to all sitcom stations especially retro sitcom stations they are always a huge hit with all ages especially the people in the 55-70 age group. With Decades and METV two of the top retro antenna sitcom channels Decades as well as METV has always been working hard to impress fans over the years by adding sitcoms that everybody can enjoy. With Decades becoming Catchy Comedy March 27th I think that they will copy TV Land and get an even bigger audience that will grow. Because Catchy Comedy or CC as I will refer to Catchy Comedy will be better than ever and here are some sitcoms and other shows that will fit on Catchy Comedy in the future

Too Bad Decades channel will be gone later next month but The New Catchy Comedy Channel does need even a bit more variety.

Catchy Comedy sounds like a silly name, Classic Comedy would have been a better choice.

Here's another press release which gives you a little more information about Catchy Comedy. The main things to know about the article are:

1. The binges are indeed coming back on the weekends and will be sitcoms only (Yay! No more "Commish"!). They will be known as "The Catchy Binge".

2. The first day of the new network will be Monday March 27.

Catchy Comedy definitely sounds like it was created to compete with Laff and Antenna TV. I'm just hoping I get the channel on Dish and they replace Story TV with it. Lots of shows to enjoy.

They're losing Petticoat Junction from the current sitcom schedule, and they've sometimes used WKRP at 12:30 am. Overnight, they have the "Lost Honeymooners", Get Smart, Phil Silvers, Car 54, Dobie Gillis, Abbott and Costello, and Our Miss Brooks. It'll be interesting to see if they keep that intact.

Hopefully some/all of those show pop up in the unscheduled overnight from I think 1:30 or 2:00am - 6am. Otherwise infomercials may end up there.

The good thing is that many of those shows can be streamed from free. Not to mention available on DVD and paid streaming services.
