I like Melissa Rauch and of course John Laroquette. And Wendie Mallick was a great guest star. But the new bailiff is terrible (obviously an attempt to try to make it funny, but it falls flat). The others aren't much better, either. I'm still watching though, because I do see a little of Harry in Melissa's portrayal and have long appreciated John.

I agree each episode feels short. But this is very much a NBC show made for broadcast. Not for streaming. Not sure where you got that idea from? Episodes debut on NBC and are limited to fit commercials. Only the next day are episodes available to stream. Would be nice if the streaming version was a little longer.
The biggest pain to me is the end credits are during last scene. So the NBC app reduces that last scene to small window and often ends before it is done! So I have to fast forward to episode end and make sure I open that window instead of going to another NBC show so I can finish watching whole thing, |

I've liked the show so far but the stories aren't fully developed dut to all the commercials.
Funny how the first commercial break they say they will be back in exactly one minute. Then the next two breaks run four minutes or so. Also the court room is so bright. Actually every room is bright. One thing the original show had was the feel of a night court. Somewhat dark and grimy. Hopefully as the season progresses things will settle in. Only time will tell. |

Given the shortness of individual episodes the show would benefit greatly if it leaned into ongoing storytelling. That is the norm for most tv these days. First hints of it are constant references to Abby’s still unseen fiancé.
They could have reoccurring defendants over multiple episodes. Also really missing is backup secondary supporting characters. Which was huge part of original series. Which made stories feel like part of big world. So far this feels similar in scope to a family sitcom. The regulars are the family in their home, the court. Which gets a few guests each week. The original show felt more lively. In terms large of background extras. |

Comparing the reboot to the original series makes the writers of the reboot seem timid in comparison.
