Did CBS overestimate the audience's devotion to the Flo character - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

In other words, sometimes characters who are amusing in support lose something as the main attraction, and networks never learn that lesson.

The Flo series initially was a big hit as a spring replacement series. In Flo's first full season, they moved it to Saturdays, first at 8:30, then at 9, and Saturday was a strong ABC night at the time. The Love Boat, one of Flo's direct competitors, was in the top 5.

Flo did a fast fade and wasn't renewed.

I think that Flo was just as appealing in Alice and she was In Flo, but the concept of the show was not done well. I do not think the supporting characters were well defined or did not add much at all. The show Flo just was not that good, despite the efforts of the actress and the character of Flo.
