I'm a big fan of Christopher Castile and I don't think it would have been the same without him as Mark. But, why would they be confused about a dark haired Mark and then not be confused about Karen? People can be so strange.

IMO. Karen had to have dyed her hair anyways. There's a blonde under there.

I never thought about this until recently, but Step by Step really seems to have some of the most random casting for a family sitcom out there. Like are we genuinely supposed to believe that somebody who looks like Angela Watson (who has dark brown hair and blue eyes) could possibly be a blood relative of Suzanne Somers (who has blonde hair and blue eyes) or even Staci Keanan for that matter?

And I find it kind of funny that both of the actresses who played Carol's mother and sister (Peggy Rea and Patrika Darbo respectively) are with all due respect, heavy set looking when Suzanne Somers is svelte and thin.

Karen's bio father/Carol's first husband had dark brown hair, duh. A family, even immediate family with no step or adopted children, doesn't mean you automatically have the same hair/eye color as both parents and all your siblings.
