I too love them both but I have to go with PJ (up until when Kate leaves--after that it got too bland).

I know I've said this over and over and over again but I really wish more PJ and GA would be released on DVD!

I own the complete series of both shows on "homemade sets" but it's not the same as official sets....I want official sets!

I love both of them but Green Acres by a long shot.

I see here that only three seasons of Petticoat Junction have been released, out of what, at least twice as many more seasons?

How many seasons of Green Acres are currently available on DVD?

Petticoat Junction was MUCH better than Green Acres. I traded off my GA seasons 3 and 4 because the "slapstick" was more of a slap in the face. O.W. Douglass could not walk into the General Store, and greet, without some irrelevent retorts. Seasons 1 and 2 had a bit of this defect, but they provided some color into the Hooterville environment.

OF TOPIC WARNING: I would like to see Seasons 4 and later of PJ, seasons 5 and later of Beverly Hillbillies, and some other shows, before I fall of the twig.

The black-and-white episodes of PJ are much better than the color seasons but they're still all fun to watch.

I like but don't absolutely love the last few seasons of the show because of all the singing.

I've always preferred Green Acres.

I like both although my favorite of the two would be Green Acres. I like what I've seen of Petticoat Junction but I really haven't watched it that much. I wish Decades would give it a binge marathon.

Wink Both Good But For Different Styles of TV

While I like and enjoy both shows, they are both different types of shows. Green A. is more surreal, ridiculous, off beat, strange, crazy sort of bizarro humor. While P. Junction is more the traditional family style gentle and kindly humor, not mean or insulting the way G.A. could sometimes get.

You have to admit though that in the final season of Petticoat Junction, Uncle Joe was pretty mean to Orrin Pike (Bobbie Jo's boyfriend, Season 7, 1969-70).

The thing that's a little frustrating is that one more season of PJ may have had some significant events: the marriage of Bobbie & Orrin, and possibly a wedding for Billie Jo (Meredith MacRae's real-life husband, Greg Mullavey, had appeared). But the series was canned (ending a full season before GA).

I like both shows -- I watch Green Acres for the wackiness, and PJ for several reasons -- not the least of which is the ladies.

I feel like it's silly to choose between the two, but when I was a kid I hated Petticoat Junction for whatever reason, so I'm going to give the nod to Green Acres just because of that. I liked it as a kid and now, I always appreciated its surreal zaniness.

When I got older I watched all the Petticoat Junction shows in reruns and learned to appreciate it. I'm not sure why I disliked it so much when I was younger.
