The actual reason for It's Your Move's cancellation was that NBC had to make room for the second season of Double Trouble. It's a shame because It's Your Move had so much promise for a second season but after It's Your Move was cancelled Jason Bateman would later begin starring in his breakthrough role in The Hogan Family

It's Your Move looking back, feels like a beta-test for Married...with Children, doesn't it? Obviously, it was from the creators of MWC (the humor in IYM could also be pretty dark) and David Garrison plays a writer from Chicago who matches wits with Jason Bateman's character similar to how Steve Rhodes in MWC would match wits with Al Bundy.

Bateman's character, Matthew is basically the early prototype of Bud Bundy when he was a smart-mouthed schemer. And the older sister Julie was an early prototype of Kelly Bundy, when she was a typical sarcastic and shallow teen.
