This serves as the direct reversal of the long running trend of turning old TV shows and adapting them to big budget motion pictures. It's almost a really difficult question to follow and answer since a lot of these particular shows only lasted for a really short amount of time. This is in spite of the fact that shows like MASH and Buffy, the Vampire Slayer have more than likely greatly surpassed the original movies in terms of immediate name recognition. They may usually fail due in large part to it being forced to water things down a in terms of comparing the content/material while in the process of making the transition from movies to network TV.
Not to mention having to watch a pack of virtually second-rate and/or no name actors fill a bunch of the big shoes that were already left by the original casts. This is of course, besides a certain issue in terms of the degree of all out faithfulness to the original sources. |

anyone remember the "Dirty Dancing" tv show fiasco? That has to get my vote. "Working Girl" was pretty bad too. I never was a Sandra Bullock fan and to this day think she is the most overrated actress in Hollywood (of all her movies, I've only enjoyed Practical Magic and While You Were Sleeping), and that series introduced her. The worst part about Working Girl is that the movie is an all-time fave of mine, yet the series was flatter than month-old Diet Pepsi.
I will admit to enjoying the Clueless TV series, mainly because I used to adore that movie, and it came out at a perfect time. |

Ferris Buller.. Nobody should have tried to recreate Matthew Brodrick's Brillant preformance, and Jennifer Greys zany Genie should not have gone anywhere near Jennifer Aniston. i too loved the Clueless series, although i feel that the show did ruin any chances of a CLueless box office sequel, which would have been ineveitable if it weren't for the series.

the problem with Ferris Bueller is that FBDO is a significant movie of the mid-80's, Ferris Bueller was a 90's show. That would've been like doing a tv series based on Saturday Night Fever in the mid-80's.
I agree I still wish for a Clueless 2 |

For some reason, Baby Talk really sticks out in my mind. Baby Talk was supposedly meant to be the TV version of the Look Who's Talking movies. Unfortunately, I haven't really seen a great deal of the Look Who's Talking movies in an attempt to make comparisions with Baby Talk.
But if you ask me, it simply seemed to be really lame, flat, and way too one joke-ish. Especially when the being on network TV really restrains the material at hand when compared to the movies. Not to mention that the only thing that really managed to be interesting by default, was the voice-over work. This just makes things even more one-dimensional while being on for just a half an hour. |
