I'm trying to find more information on this show. I loved it when I was around 10 but I barely remember anything about it. Also does anyone know who owns it? As i'd love to get it on DVD but it i can't find any company who owns the rights.

I remember that. Harry Anderson's other sitcom before he left showbiz.
I don't remember too much about the show except that Harry played real-life satirist Dave Barry, and that the episodes were mostly based on his columns. I do remember people like John Ritter and Meshach Taylor doing guest spots on there. I also remember that the show gave Buffy's Nicholas Brendon his big break. |

It was a great show. Wish some station would bring it back in reruns. I think I remember seeing it somewhere a couple of years ago for a bit, but since then - nothing.

I remember the show and it was excellent. DeLane Matthews, as Harry Anderson's TV wife Beth, was a hottie especially in her shorts. What killed the show was when it moved from its cozy Monday night slot when it got good ratings to Wednesday nights. From that point on Dave's World never received the good ratings that it did the first two seasons on Monday nights. It look like Anderson and Matthews could had been married in real life. Their romantic chemistry came across well on screen.

I remember PAX used to show reruns of it, a while ago. I think on weekday afternoons.

I too remember this show and i did enjoy it too.
I saw a recent interview of Harry Anderson during a documentary about HOUDINI and boy he sure plumped up a bit but he still looks the same. |

I remember it. It played on Asian cable TV a few years back. Funny show. Loved it, primarily for Mesatch Taylor and Shadoe Stevens! Them, along with Patrick Warburton MADE the show!

I vaguely remember this show! I think I watched it a few times. Wow, I didn't know Patrick Warburton had been on it! I loved him on Seinfeld!

I'm a little surprised it's considered forgotten. I remember watching the series in prime time. There was always a missing piece of kitchen counter tile.

Also, the show other than being on PAX for a brief while, was never widely syndicated. It just came very close of reaching the coveted 100 episode mark when it was cancelled in 1997. Also, only the first two seasons were officially released on DVD. The theme song by Billy Joel, however had been replaced with a generic rock track. You can currently, screen Dave's World on YouTube thanks to Shadoe Stevens. It probably didn't help that Dave Berry in real life got a divorce from his wife while Dave's World was still on the air. So there was probably a general feeling, that what was being said and depicted on television was completely inauthentic to Dave's actual reality. |
