"Just given that everyone in the cast and behind the scenes are all doing different things, it just feels extremely unlikely that we’ll be able to, at least for a while, give that kind of finale," Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn told The Wrap, adding: "I think for the show, we are celebrating the iconic series by probably not looking to exploit it any further and just celebrate it for what it was, which was one of the great dramas of all time, in our opinion.” |

It's really sad for a series to go from having the absolute best 18-49 demo ratings on television (especially if no other series will live up to such ratings figures again) to being robbed of a proper sendoff because of unavoidable circumstances. If Empire's cast and crew were to have gone back into production just to shoot its official finale, it would have already been released by now. I just didn't know how quickly they were to move on to other projects, especially with the COVID pandemic that shot down the finale's production in the first place. The big worry is, it'll get to a point where it might just be too late, at which point, a reunion movie would be the best option of giving its fans closure. What Michael Thorn stated here is a great indication for Empire's official finale to be left unproduced FOREVER.
