Default Tom Brady retires after 23 seasons in the NFL

https://nypost.com/2022/02/01/adam-s...dy-retirement/

Brady, 44, ends his career as the most accomplished QB in NFL history having won seven Super Bowls, including last year's big game. Brady's retirement also comes three days after ESPN reporters Adam Schefter and Jeff Darlington broke the news that Brady is retiring, only to be met with pushback from Brady's team, including his dad. But ESPN stuck with its reporting. As the New York Post's Ryan Glasspiegel, the dispute created a "surreal scene" since Brady is in business with ESPN with his docuseries Man in the Arena and a 30 for 30 documentary on the Tuck Rule Game. ALSO: ESPN to devote a special edition of SportsCenter this afternoon to Brady's retirement.

I thought he previously said that he wanted to play in the NFL until he's age 50? I guess he must have changed his mind.

He projected that he'd play football until age 45.

So it was age 45 when he planned to retire, I think he's 44 now so I suppose that's close enough. He played for 22 years and won several championships, had a great career, nothing really left to prove so he probably made the right choice to retire, why continue playing and maybe risk serious injury.

It’s now been 2 Days since The NFL saw the official retirement of The Man who won first Super Bowl 20 years ago this week.

He was easy to dislike if he was playing against your team, but he had a heck of a career. He was passed over by every team. I don't think there will be another 6th round quarterback have that much success ever again.

He just had one of his best statistical seasons. He could have easily played until he was 50. All he did was win Super Bowls (7) and MVPs (5). He's the GOAT.

There are already rumors that Tom Brady is not going to stay retired and I wouldn't be surprised if this is true. He would probably prefer to end his career on a winning note, might have sights set to win one more Super Bowl and then retire permanently.

If he un-retires, he could choose to stay with Tampa Bay or go to another team that has an immediate chance to win.

Not surprised at all about this, he obviously wants his career to end by going out on top as a champion. Will see how it all works out.

Thanks, rumor started around mid-February that Brady wouldn't stay retired. Football is a rough game and Brady risks injury by continuing to play, but if everything falls into place and Tampa fields a strong team this year, Super Bowl is possible, will see what happens.

Tom Brady's unretirement led NFL's schedule-makers to restart crafting the 2022 season

Howard Katz, the NFL's senior vice president of broadcasting, spends months analyzing, debating and reshuffling the 272 games to maximize viewership and fan interest while trying to maintain fairness for the teams. “When Tom Brady retired, we were concerned about the strength of the NFC package because there were so many terrific Tampa Bay games we were looking at,” Katz told the Los Angeles Times. “Then a month later he unretires and we sort of started all over again.”
