Default The last episode had a very poor edit in it

In the filmed episode at the end, Marcia and Peter ask Greg what college he's going to? Greg smiles and says "Oh no you don't, you two will just have to wait and see who gets my room." Then Oliver says they should turn Greg's room into a guest room, when asked who will be the guest, he says "Me, Cousin Oliver."

That doesn't make sense until you realize there was a subplot edited out. Marcia and Peter make a bet regarding which college Greg will go to. The winner gets the attic. But since they edited that out, the end makes no sense as everyone would assume Marcia gets the attic as the next oldest.

I had no idea that there was ever a plot about Marcia and Peter having had a bet. I wonder why it was edited out.

Its edited out for more commercial time. Many sitcoms lose some of their best moments because of this corporate greed of bombarding us with more commercials. The Golden Girls have so many sub plots edited out that unless you know the episodes from DVD, you would not understand what they are talking about.

Was this scene included in the network episodes and edited out in syndication?

I assume that plot never made it to air. It isn't on the dvds I'm sure.

The end of the opening also had a poor edit. Bobby clearly opened his box fully before the end of the act and everyone kind of froze waiting for someone to yell cut.

Ha ha. I always noticed that too.
I think it was the early 70s and everyone was spaced out

Maybe they were so eager to lure Cousin Oliver to the attic- then lock the door behind him forever that they mixed up their lines.

Hey, that COULD be the reason why he was NEVER seen or heard from again in ANY of the Original BB spin-offs or sequels! I'm sure they wanted to forget he'd ever happened just like they did about the time they sold their house to move to some weird stagey set to do their Variety Show!

Yep! AND that Mike had quit his architecture career JUST so they all could host the variety show which lasted all of nine episodes from 1976-77.

But, of course, the Bradys somehow had regained their iconic abode and Mike had resumed his architecture career by the time 'The Brady Brides' TV movie (then series) came about five years later!
