TMC Member Forum Idol Join Date: Jan 09, 2001 Posts: 124,662	What happens to music rights when the artists actually perform the music on the show Isn't there a difference between selling the rights to use a recording in a program and actually performing a song that is recorded on video? In the case of Square Pegs, there were a couple of important live performances (The Waitresses, Devo, Open 48 Hours), the episodes that didn't seem to have much in the way of actual soundtrack music. Although The Waitresses' "Christmas Rap" did play in the background of a scene in the Christmas episode.
