A Chrissy Snow Death Storyline for Seasons 5 and 6

SitcomsOnline users, this has to be asked sooner or later: How would you have changed the storylines for seasons five and six of Three's Company to accommodate a death/killing-off storyline for Christmas Noelle Snow?

The pay-dispute between Suzanne Somers and the producers of TC that resulted in her departure was so nasty that killing-off Chrissy Snow shouldn't have been avoided in the first place. ABC executives definitely would've agreed with such a plan/storyline, and they likely would've shoved it down the TC producers' throats if they could. I don't agree with what JSP or SitcomsHeydayFan stated on this thread; Killing off Chrissy Snow should not have been THAT big a no-no after what we saw with James Evans, Sr. on Good Times. There's a MAJOR cliffhanger at the end of season five, and with viewers wondering what REALLY happened to Chrissy Snow, the season six premiere, which would also feature Chrissy's funeral, would bring in the biggest ratings of the week. And such a storyline would coincide with the arrival of Terri Alden (Priscilla Barnes).

Chrissy going off to take care of her ill mother just isn't enough under circumstances like this. That left the door open for a future appearance down the road, while in reality, the TC producers would bar Suzanne Somers from the TC set for the remainder of its run and reject all requests for a return/guest-star appearance for Chrissy. In fact, Chrissy shouldn't have been kept alive after Ms. Somers's departure, period.:

I agree. It was a light funny sitcom. A heavy death episode would not have worked. I also hated when comedies get serious for episodes. They are usually my least favorite episodes. For example the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome 2 parter of the Golden Girls is my least favorite of all seasons. Episode one ends "Dorothy may be dying and we just dont know it"

I dont think the Good Times analogy fits here. James was a father figure. Chrissy was a roommate. Roommates come and go. There is only one father

only ep of TC i dont like because its kind of serious is some of that jazz. Janet was a dance teacher and the ep ended with her crying

I actually love that episode. Jack's dance with the dance group is his best slapstick of the entire series. I have seen it a million times and each time I see it, I laugh out loud its so funny. I also find it funny and odd how Janet's friends make a big deal because she messed up 3 times and think she will never make it as a dancer. But in the end, the friends seem right convincing Janet not to quit her job at the flower shop. Another reason I love the episode is because the dance instructor is the guru who brainwashed Chrissy

It seems like in the later episodes, history was re-written; not only does it seem as if Chrissy never existed, BUT it seems they imply Terri had been there from the start

I always felt that it was closure and we assumed that her mom was healthy enough to live take care of herself which required to live there permanently

I could come up with two causes myself: horrific Tenerife-like plane crash (also involving her father), and a faulty power outlet. How about Chrissy being murdered, even?

Most of the time, "Three's Company" was lightweight comedy fluff...but every once in a while, the show attempted to tackle serious issues.
