I think it's really comparing apples to oranges, personally. On THE COSBY SHOW, he played a father figure, with young children in the house, and was a doctor. The humor was in the family interaction.
Then on COSBY, he played a former airline employee, and there were no children to be found. In fact, Hilton and Ruth's only child on the show was already grown on the show. The latter show was primarily about adult relationships, it seems. Thus it's really hard to compare the two... Ben F. Schumin :-) |

THE COSBY SHOW is so much better tOSBY. COSBY is alright, but the writing isn't very good. Madeline's character is the worst -- the lines given to her are always stupid and un-funny. She's a great actress, she has a gift for comedic timing, and I respect her for that.
Her character in COSBY is just bad

I "wholeheartedly" disagree! TCS is smart, better-written and more true-to-life. Cosby is just your basic, run-of-the-mill sitcom; such as Drew Carey or That 70's Show. What's more, Cosby isn't nearly as "consistently" funny as TCS. Sure, TCS has its bad episodes. But, Cosby, to be honest, has a lot more
. What's more, none of the characters on TCS are annoying. Sure, I like some better than others; but none are "annoying." Madeline's character on Cosby is annoying, hands down. Not her; her character. And Cosby isn't very well-written (as is the case with most sitcoms nowadays). The jokes -- most of them -- seem stretched. Unlike TCS, where everything seems natural. Bill Cosby is in his element on TCS; it's like he is born to play a doctor. To each his own though. |
