The Emmy-winning actress says she had to give herself a pep talk for last month's Kimmel-produced re-creations of episodes of Diff'rent Strokes and The Facts of Life. |

Thanks for sharing!
![]() Charlotte Rae was and will always be Mrs. Edna Garrett, nobody could replace her Anyway, Ann did a wonderful job with the part. I mean, she worked on two episodes produced during the same night

Ann Dowd did an okay job as Mrs. Garrett. The side-by-side clips, though, reveal the fact that Ann Dowd played the role as Southern. Mrs. Garrett, however, was from Wisconsin. The accent was very off. She still did well in the role, but I don't know why someone didn't give her better direction.

She still was quite good in the role... but I don't understand her decision to "go southern". Didn't she know Edna was from Appleton, Wisconsin? |

Ann Dowd was born in central Massashusetts. Not sure why she would do a southern accent. It sounded like Aunt Bee. People from central Mass usually don't have Boston accents either unless they are transplants.

No, we don't either. It's probably pretty easy for us to pick out a Boston accent from New York accent, and a Georgia accent from a Minnesota accent... but I couldn't tell, say, Washington State from California. Mississippi's accent sounds just like Alabama's accent, to me!
