The Soleil Moon Frye-led sequel series to her classic 1980s kids show won't be renewed for Season 2. The show debuted in February to disappointing reviews. "Punky Brewster was a beloved series that tackled meaningful storylines with so much heart,” said Lisa Katz, President, Scripted, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. “It was a bright light for so many viewers and we are forever grateful to Universal Studio Group, the producers, the cast and crew and especially to Soleil Moon Frye for reigniting the Punky Power within everyone.”

I feel we needed just one more season to answer some questions...

Cheri and her fiancée get married
Mike, Allen and Margaux return and we find out more on their lives after 1988
Punky and Travis get back together
We find out exactly what Henry and Mrs. Johnson died of and what years
What happened to Punky’s Place

We didn’t get to see any of that and if there was a season 2 that’s all we really needed.

We didn’t get a renewal ASAP so I was a bit worried. Months went by...6 months now and still nothing until yesterday.

Yeah, it’s over. They gave us the finale we needed back in 1988 as she found her mom and found out why she left.

Soleil Moon Frye reacts to the Punky Brewster reboot's cancelation, calls it "lightning in a bottle"

"I am so grateful for your constant love and support," the actress wrote on Instagram after Peacock opted not to pick up a second season. "I am feeling so many feels about what to say to all of our friends, family, and fans that have supported us so I will share what I wrote to my Punky family last night which all of you that have loved us have been a part of… I want to start by saying I love each and every one of you from the depths of my heart. I am so incredibly grateful for all of the beautiful stunning gifts you gave to me and the way in which you touched my heart and so many others. The best way I can put this experience is that it has felt like lightning in a bottle, a comet of joy, heart and love that I will hold closest to my heart forever and always. You helped me find my inner strength and Punky Power once again. This has always been more than a show, it has been the collective of spirits coming together to help make the world a better place and create change by sharing our stories."

The new one was trash they can't make a new one better it won't work the original will always top it
