after Silver Spoons ended in 1987. I mean, he did have a comeback of sorts with NYPD Blue roughly 10 years later. But if I'm not mistaken, he then started complaining to the press about his NYPD Blue character, and was soon after killed off. After that his career pretty much ended, at least in terms of being in A-ist or big network projects.

I don't want this to come across as the wrong way, but one theory that I've heard is that Ricky's career post-career prospects may have been limited. If I'm not mistaken, Ricky converted to Mormonism upon his marriage. And maybe he was pre-emptively disqualified from roles he might have been right for (but he wasn't asked to do) because it was assumed he would have turned them down on religious grounds.

When you see what he did do, though…

I mean, he theoretically could've had a career like his old co-star Jason Bateman, but kind of got sent off the grid.

His behavior and arrests haven't helped his career.

Yes, and he had already developed a reputation for having a short fuse in the 2000s.
