I'm glad things happened the way they did. I like "Newhart" more than "TBNS".

Nothing against "Newhart", but I rewatch the whole "Bob Newhart Show" series at least once a year. I don't feel the same need to rewatch "Newhart" that often. That being said, it was probably a good idea that he made a new series, rather than rebooting.

I wonder why there wasn't an attempt to bring the show back following the infamous Newhart series finale in 1990. I would think that the events of the latter show would've renewed public interests in the old Newhart show (or the "Chicago Bob Newhart Show" compared to the "Vermont Bob Newhart Show" that ran from 1982-90). I am aware that there was a one-shot reunion special in 1991. And Bob Newhart and Marcia Wallace reprised their characters for a gag on Murphy Brown.
