Our house started out only 4 rooms. Additions added on over the years as the family grew. Here are yesterday and today

The first house I lived in as a child no longer exists, it was torn down, I don't remember exactly when, late 1990's or early 2000's if I recall correctly. After the house was torn down, the lot was vacant for awhile but soon after a new house was built in it's place.

Yeah it's sad, all that's left now are memories. I lived in that house from 1961 to 1971, then my parents and I moved to another house which was just a block or two down the street.

Marlene, does your family still own this home ?Anyone from your family still live there ?

Very interesting , very sweet and nostalgic! I was back reading this thread and you guys didn't have an indoor bathroom at first !!! WOW! So cool how it was built on and made bigger and you all stayed living there in this house rather than moving to a bigger house !

My dad built the entire house and additions by himself . My Mom had to sell the house a few years ago as she was aging and couldn't live by herself. She is living in Wisconsin with my sister. She is doing very well. I haven't even driven by the house since as it is too heart wrenching.

It looks similar. The windows were replaced, they re-sided the garage and did a sh*t job (it doesn't match the house anymore), the "back" yard (house is on a corner, so the back really isn't back) is full of one of those giant playground-like things, and the a-holes who bought it from my parents removed the two full-grown maple trees from the front yard for no good reason. It went into foreclosure for awhile and then was for sale, so I saw some pics on the real estate site, and the kitchen and bathroom looked the same. Not sure about the rest of the place.
