Default Supergirl: 10 Storylines The Show Dropped

https://screenrant.com/arrowverse-su...ed-storylines/

Post-Reign Life

Reign was one of the most significant threats that Supergirl had ever faced in battle. What was worse was that Reign's alter-ego was actually one of Kara's closest friends, Sam Arias. At the end of some incredible action sequences, Sam was eventually restored and Reign was seemingly no more.

The character could in theory go on to lead a normal life, with her Kryptonian DNA now completely wiped. Instead of Sam continuing to be a part of the team though, she disappeared completely from the show, only making minor cameos since. What's more, if the science of the show has demonstrated anything, Reign could have resurfaced once more. Reign's story may have concluded, but Sam's was dropped!

Alien Racism

Aliens had been revealed to be living amongst humanity, with the President herself actually revealed to be a being from another planet in disguise. This caused fear and outrage amongst the population, something that Agent Liberty would capitalize on.

While Liberty may have been held to justice for his crimes, the attitude of the nation was forgotten about. Deep political issues like these do not disappear overnight. This went from being quite a realistic storyline to one that was seemingly dropped; these issues really should have continued to play into the last season of the show.

8
The Legion Of Superheroes

The Legion of Superheroes is a team of vigilantes from the future. The group has consisted of Supergirl alumni including Winn Schott as Computer Lad and later Toyman Brainy, who is part of the current Supergirl team, alongside Saturn Girl and Mon-El.

The team may resurface now and then, but their ultimate mission for the future has been forgotten about. Brainy's link to the group has been put to one side and Kara's own romance and love triangle with Mon-El, and his wife has been put in the past. Clearly once in the future, the Legion is very much out of sight, out of mind.

7
Cat Grant's Career

A character that grew a lot in front of Supergirl's devoted audience during its earlier seasons was Cat Grant. From selfish media mogul to genuine supporter of Kara and Supergirl alike, Grant became a firm fan favorite.

She would later go on to work for the President herself, but after this not much more was heard from Cat. She had been such a vital part of the show and now no one is overly sure what happened to her. With the new Earth-Prime in its place, the only surety is that she still had her media success.

6
Lucy Lane

Lucy Lane was a key antagonist in season 1 of the show, even taking over the D.E.O. after suspicions were raised about the impostor version of Hank Henshaw; Maritan Manhunter in disguise. She would eventually have to stand down from the role and seemingly side with Supergirl and her team.

Then she completely vanished. Lucy Lane is the estranged sister to Lois Lane and even becomes Superwoman in the comics. Yet there really has been no mention of the character since, nor the larger role she could have filled in the Arrowverse.

5
New Krypton

Some of the best episodes of the show take place when Kara is rediscovering her Kryptonian heritage. One major plot point was that her mother was actually still alive and a new Krypton had been formed around Argo City.

Kara could have chosen to lead a life here amongst her people again but chose not to, with Superman and Lois instead taking up the opportunity. Kara never visited after this and almost forgot about it completely; a strange choice considering her deep connection to the place. It would only be brought up again during its destruction in Crisis On Infinite Earths.

4
Jimmy Olsen's New Life

Jimmy Olsen ultimately decided he would leave his job and beloved city behind, setting up a brand new life in a small, unassuming town. He buys out a publication he once worked for and supposedly hangs up the shield as Guardian.

It's a promising new chapter, one that fans were eager to see unfold, with James potentially unearthing small-town crimes and maybe one day suiting up again. But Olsen hasn't been seen since. His story was finished there, yet really it was only just beginning!

3
Bizarro Supergirl

Bizarro Supergirl was a creation of Maxwell Lord in the first season of the show. The character would be a parallel to Kara and Supergirl but also the complete opposite of her. Misinformed and driven by fear, Bizarro would ultimately be calmed and was seemingly being set up for future stories.

Those future stories never came. The relationship between Kara and the Jane Doe was an interesting one that never got developed further. Bizarro should in theory have been brought back since, as the misunderstood monster looking for peace. Sadly, Bizarro's fate may never be revealed.

2
Morgan Edge

Morgan Edge is an interesting one, as the Arrowverse recently brought back the character with a different actor in Superman And Lois. For a long time, Edge was a business rival to Lena Luthor and a clear antagonist to Supergirl.

He was caught for his crimes and it was implied he would be going to jail. Justice was never served on-screen, nor was his revenge. Edge was written out of the show, but now thanks to the Multiversal shift, his story is dropped completely in favor of a different one.

1
Maxwell Lord's Master Plan

Maxwell Lord is another villain from the first season of the show that was not only left in the past but was even on the verge of a master plan before he was completely written out. This is perhaps one of the most illogical moments of the show's writing.

Maxwell Lord had created a plan involving Myriad that could lead to the death of millions. He was the ultimate villain and one that never got to fulfil his role. At the end of the first season he was left almost at victory with the Omegahedron in his possession, before Supergirl saved the day without a mention of him again. He has never appeared since despite everything he could offer to Supergirl.
