Alec Baldwin deactivates his Twitter account again following backlash over a joke about Gillian Anderson "switching accents"

Baldwin seemed to be alluding to his wife Hilaria Baldwin's Spanish controversy when he joked about The Crown star using her American accent during the Golden Globes when many thought she was actually British. His joke was met with backlash. So Baldwin quit Twitter and explained why in an Instagram video posted Wednesday night, saying he was just being ironic. "Of course you can't do any irony on Twitter," he said. "You can't do any irony in the United States anymore, because the United States is such an uptight, stressed-out place and unpleasant place right now."
