There was TOO much drama in that one for me. LOL. From people questioning whether Good Times is a spinoff or not to people denying that it’s a spinoff to people saying that it IS a spinoff to people claiming that Florida never appeared on Maude and actually that was a whole other character to…Svenfan and TVFactFan constantly bickering and arguing.

Here’s the lyrics to the rare original CBS Good Times pilot intro.
As you can see the intro describes the concept and overall synopsis of Good Times in a nutshell as it begins with Henry and Florida saying goodbye to Maude, Walter, Carol, Arthur, and Vivian and then shows The Evans Family or James, Florida, J.J., Thelma, and Michael being relocated to Chicago by Cousin Wilbert as he eases the custom wagon down the streets. You can see things like the Empire State Building and the Madison Square Garden and later the Sears Tower (now referred to as Willis Tower), the Chicago Theater, various Chicago interstates in the background, and the unemployment office, where The Evans Family would often pay a visit to as they move on down into Chicago. The intro ends with Cousin Wilbert dropping off the family at the projects and The Evans Family getting their belongings and suitcases, getting out the wagon and saying goodbye to Cousin Wilbert and entering the projects, being approached by large groups of thugs and gangsters. James, looking depressed is slouched over, walking very slowly while Florida, with a smile on her face, is trying to cheer James on into the projects. Well we movin’ on down (movin’ on down) To the southside To a dumpy apartment In the Chi Well we movin’ on down (movin’ on down) To the southside We never got a piece of the pie Bein’ poor and living in a ghetto Ain’t that much of a thrill If we had done more tryin We might’ve gotten up that hill Now we’re down in the Low Leagues Gettin’ our turn at unemployment As long as we live, it’s you and me baby And they ain’t nothin’ wrong with that Well we movin’ on down (movin’ on down) To the southside To a dumpy apartment In the Chi Well we movin’ on down (movin’ on down) To the southside We NEVER got a piece of the pie-hi-ie-hi-ie-ie Sung by Marla Gibbs who portrayed Helena Williams in the big Good Times sendoff on Maude. LOL. |

They made a poor attempt in trying to connect it to Maude by having florida said........."And when I was a maid" Instead of
"you remember when I worked for Maude ![]() ![]()

Now I agree on you with that it should’ve been “when I was a maid, working for Maude Findlay in NYC, I was the best damn maid there was”. She also should’ve mentioned how Cousin Wilbert relocated them from NYC to Chicago by custom wagon.

That’s okay, the Good Times sendoff on Maude with J.J., Thelma, Michael, Mother Evans, Janet, Terry and Helena Williams was good enough.
So basically you wasted your money lol |

LOL why would a DVD cover mention anything about it being a spin off. Talk about grasping at straws.
Yet you don't care the creators of the show say it was a spin off. The actors were told it was a spin off. Its obvious that even if theme song and script they said it was spin off over and over, still you would not believe. Nothing will make you believe it. Its a commentary of today. Facts dont matter and everyone lives in an alternate world where they want to believe whatever they want. You can have your opinion it was not a spin off but you dont have the facts that it was not a spin off. You have no right to discard the creators of the show who worked to give Florida Evans, the popular house keeper on Maude her own show. Sorry. Not today. Not ever. |

Ok maybe the DVD point was weak because I checked the back of the Maude and Jeffersons DVD and there was no mention of being spinned off from All in the family |
