Default Watching the last episode of Maude and it's stated that Florida lives in

a House and will stay home with the kids to be a house wife since her husband got a promotion at the firehouse

See? No spinoff............ Plus Maude said she is only 45 mins from Florida lol

Good Times is a revamped Norman Lear Comedy

It's a Spiritual Successor I guess since Florida Evans name appears in BOTH Series.

I will never understand how so many people are convinced that Good Times is a spin off. This is just further proof that it is NOT a spin off of anything!

It’s called discontinuity and inconsistency my man. But let’s not stir this up again.

Maybe it’s because the character Florida Evans appeared on both Maude and Good Times?

I dont know why he didnt just call it a Norman Lear comedy like he did One Day at a Time and change her name

Yeah! It really isn't a spinoff in the traditional way ( a character leaves one show and gets her own show and is the exact same person with the exact same family and exact same life except the person might be moving away or changing jobs, changing their life in some way ( like for instance Rhoda leaving Minneapolis and moving back to NY where her family lived and getting married, but she still was the same Rhoda)!

Florida the housekeeper of Maude in NY , the only thing she had in common with Florida in Chicago was her name! It was NEVER said that Florida left Maude's employment and moved to Chicago! Her Husband ( although he was played by the same actor) had a different name and a different profession ! Nothing about NY Florida and Chicago Florida were the same except the same actress and same name ! The character was completely different !

So I am leaning towards TV Fact fan and Wawwie's opinion in saying that Good Times really wasn't a spinoff of Maude! Norman Lear just rehashed a character (Florida) but made her a whole new/different person , nothing to do at all with the Florida on Maude, two different people / not a spinoff IMO!!
