Too over the top and unnecessary changes to the original song. Im guessing it was changed because it was the start pf a new decade 90's.

I thought that the opening theme to this show was awful before they revised it and that it was even worse after they did.

Actually there were three different versions. The first version was used for Seasons 1-2. It was in the key of C and was sung by Larry Weiss. The second version was used from Season 3 to midway into 6 and was in the key of D and sung by Steve Wariner. The third version was used toward the end of season 6 up to the end of the series. It was also in the key of D and was sung by Jonathan Wolff.

Yeah, the first one is my favorite. I've found that to be true in most cases when a show updates/changes its theme throughout its run.
