Starting Jan. 25, Hulu subscribers will be able to experience the beloved NBC comedy as it originally aired, with music from The Moody Blues, The Who, Van Halen, Styx, XTC, Alice Cooper, Cheap Trick, Rush and The Grateful Dead. Music rights have previously been an issue in past Freaks and Geeks releases. Paul Feig: I would never allow Freaks and Geeks to be shown without its original soundtrack "I'd just rather not have it out there than to have it out wrong, so I was thrilled when Hulu wanted to do it this way," the Freaks and Geeks creator says of his beloved NBC series returning to streaming after three years thanks to Hulu. "I was surprised when it was made a big deal of, because I just thought, 'Well, there's no other way to put it out.' We wouldn't do it any other way. But I'm glad that they're highlighting that so people know that the music's there. As far as I know, other than in some foreign markets, I don't even know if the show has even aired without the original music." |
