Wow...this really shocked me! Can't imagine what her reasons for leaving are, but they would have to be major to break her contract!!!

Even though Deadline reported that Faris' exit had been known for some time among the CBS sitcom's writers, People reports that the news came as a total shock on set. "It was a surprise to hear that Anna was leaving," a source close to the show tells People. "None of us are happy about that...It was sudden and unwelcome, and it left the entire network scrambling. This is not a good thing at all."
I bet the writers knew a year ago Anna didn't want to continue with the show. Did anyone notice the drastic change in direction the last couple of seasons? Christy was fading into the background a lot while Bonnie took over. Christy's main stories were with her law career. She didn't have much interaction with the other 4. When Kristen came on as Tammy, her character received so much establishment. We had episodes learning about Tammy's parents, her parole, her struggles of being free, her aunt, her romantic relationship, and others. It makes sense why Kristen was bumped up to regular cast. She is made as Christy's replacement. Personally, I'm ok with this since Kristen is a strong enough actress that is able to bounce off Allison's acting talents.

Since Anna didn't want to take a pay cut and chose to leave the show after having a two year contract, I hope CBS sues her. Stars sue networks all the time for breach of contract. CBS should be allowed to do that since Anna was part of the reason the negotiations took a while last year for the contracts to be signed. Unless she had in there she would be able to leave the show which is weird for a network to allow a main star of a show to do.

Allison Janney shares the first look at Mom Season 8 without Anna Faris

“It’s a whole new territory, but we’re excited for Season 8 to begin," Janney said in a video she tweeted this afternoon. Faris opted not to return to Mom after 7 seasons.

I wonder if Allison let her hair go white in quarantine and will be dying her hair or if Bonnie will look like she does in that video.

Seeing those masks I can imagine a storyline: a few years have passed, covid is still around, and Chisty was a victim

I love this show and watch it late night everyday while falling asleep. I've seen all of it this far, probably more time than I should admit, but lately christy's character has become SO annoying to me. I can't exactly figure out exactly what it is that's become so damn obnoxious about her, but the more I watch the more I feel that way. with that being said it will be quite interesting to see the direction they take the show without her in it considering she's half of the plot line being that it is about her and her mother.....

This seems to be a popular opinion from viewer comments on the articles for Anna leaving Mom. I think her character went downhill in season 4 when she criticized Jill for wanting to be a mother. She definitely felt she knew better over what should happen to her friends instead of being supportive with their decisions. It's like she needed control of others. They then wrote her as a pest than friend when she got back into gambling and smoking. They were all tired of Christy's behavior back then. Last season, they had her separated from the group a lot to work on being a lawyer. I don't think she had that strong presence with the girls like she did in the early years.

There's something they're not telling us here as they're trying to put a good face on it.

I'm sure at some point, we'll find out what really happened.

Allison Janney and her Mom co-stars react to Anna Faris' exit: "It's a huge loss"

Janney was joined by Kristen Johnston, Jaime Pressly, Mimi Kennedy and Beth Hall in discussing with ET Faris' departure after seven seasons. "It's a huge loss for the show to not have Anna because she was part of creating a character, Christy, that everyone fell in love with, who was so lovable and warm and gullible and funny and we will miss her so much," Janney tells ET. "I think I'll miss the most, for me, the relationship between Bonnie and Christy, even though that will still continue. But she won't be present. That's what I'll miss."

Mom co-creator: Fans will be happy with the fate of Anna Faris' character

“One of the beautiful things about recovery is that quite often people’s lives get bigger and better than they could have imagined,” Gemma Baker says of Christy Plunkett's fate in tonight's Season 8 premiere in the wake of Faris' exit after seven seasons. “And that will be Christy’s experience. We are pretty sure that our audience, many of whom have been

Wow, it's Anna Faris's life and it's her career. You do realize actors don't have to stay on a show just to please you right?

People get attached to actors/ characters. There are some that feel like an extension to your family and I can understand why he’s feeling bad she can’t even comeback for one Ep to send her off properly.
