Yeah I forgot about him just accepting the Denver job without even discussing it with her first. That wasn't right...I can see this marriage heading towards the edge of a cliff.

Watched 4 more episodes last night:

Reba and the Nanny --Van is acting incredibly irresponsible in this episodes by getting a Nanny to care for his daughter while he goes out having his good times.
I get he's working through his depression of losing his football career, but to just pass his responsibility for caring for his child is terrible. Cheyenne is busy as hell taking extra classes so she can complete college early and be able to support the family which is admirable, but Van is home all day and really should take this time to bond with his daughter.
Also, I hate his hair. OMG what the hell did the stylists do to him?! He has it all combed forward like a 5th Beatle form 1964. It's so hideous!
Reba clashes with the Nanny some, and they apparently keep her on...but we never see her again after this lol. At least she's missing in the next 3 episodes.

Date of Mirth --I was looking forward to Reba dating again, but I couldn't get on board with this episode. I can't stand that guy from Desperate Housewives who played the guy---maybe I can't stand him because I hated that show.
But when I saw him, it made me remember that awful show so I instantly didn't like him. And BJ fawning over him was weird. Isn't she supposed to be reconciling with Brock?! Now she's openly having the hots for her marriage counselor and defying Reba to date him? So freaking weird. Reba should have had sex with him right in front of her to show her she has no say in anything regarding her love life.....especially after what she did to her with Brock!
Anyway, not a total stinker, but not a favorite either.

Reba the Realtor ---I love the idea of making Reba a realtor and I hope they continue this career path for her. I didn't get why Reba didn't push Van and Cheyenne to buy Brock's condo since he has the 50k to help buy it. But neither are working so they probably wouldn't be approved for a mortgage to fund the balance anyway.
But it would've been nice for them to get it and have their own place to live with Elizabeth.
I don't get how BJ apparently squirreled away $25k in cash to give to Brock to pay off his mortgage balances for the sale. How on earth did she manage that?! And it's actually more since she says at the end if he needed more!
In the second side story, Van managed Kyra's band for a while until he got the boot. That was kind of a snoozefest since we never got to actually see Kyra perform...but I hope we see more of Reba selling houses.

Flowers for Van ---This was a fun episode with the flower mix up and Cheyenne veering into dangerous waters in her marriage by having a play date between her and a divorced man's kid. She comes home literally GUSHING about the time she had with him to Reba & BJ.
One part that was really dumb was having Cheyenne get Van's flowers and thinking it was from the divorced guy.
Van is dumb, but not dumb enough to not sign the note with his name! Why send flowers to his wife without letting her know they were from him?! It was just a contrived way to have the stupid mix up and distracted me because I was thinking to myself "Van would've signed the damn note!" Ugh.
The side story was Reba and Brock playing online poker and not knowing they were communicating and playing with each other until the end when he revealed his name and location.
A shocked Reba immediately kills that online relationship by revealing her name to be "Kevin"---causing Brock to slam the laptop closed in horror.

Three great episodes, the one where Reba dated Desperate Housewives guy was the only one I didn't care for.
And I see Van & Cheyenne's marriage heading for the rocks...I wonder if this will be the season 4 cliffhanger to come? (BUT DON"T TELL ME PLEASE!!)

I agree Cheyenne was wrong to fill up Van's time with all those activities when he was home from Denver, but it was also Van's fault for just not saying "I'm tired" and explaining things to her. I think had she known, she would've backed off...not completely, but a little because she does seem a bit pushy and naggy.

I also liked when he told her that the picture of Cheyenne and the baby on the wall was all the apartment needed. I guess we won't be seeing the apartment anymore anyway now that he's off the team. I thought it was a cute little place before Cheyenne uglied it up with all that crap.
Van does say to Cheyenne at one point that he was tired. Its at the beginning of the show after he gets home. He goes upstairs only to come down a bit later and he is saying to Cheyenne that he is exhausted, but like always, you have to beat her over the head with a club for her to finally get whatever it is that you are trying to get through to her.

God bless you always!!!

Yep we can see why Cheyenne was so stressed out which Jo doesn’t seem to understand. Van was spending all their money on nonsense thinking it will never run out while Cheyenne is putting all the pressure on herself to finish school.

They're both going through their own struggles but are doing it separately instead of together. When Cheyenne tried to get Van to open up to how he's feeling he couldn't even say anything more then "Empty".

I know they went for laughs with that, but is this character really that childish and shallow mentally?! To not be able to open up your feelings to your wife with more than one word is a serious problem.

Cheyenne is trying, but Van is a perpetual 8 year old boy mentally. The writers keep writing him this way and when you do that, there's no character development or progression. I'm really close to calling him a total idiot. Geez, Rose Nylund is more intelligent than this guy.

One thing I can say for certain is these two got married to quick and too soon and we know it was just because of the baby. Sure they loved each other, but if it weren't for Elizabeth, they would've dated and eventually broken up and gone their separate ways.

I'm curious to see how the series ends with them. (PLEASE DON'T TELL ME!! ). If this show were still on and in the middle of the run, i'd predict a divorce looming ahead. But since the series is long finished, I wonder which way the story went with them. I just don't see these two being compatible for life.
Cheyenne seems to be going her separate way with school and that playdate guy was a sign that she wishes she were able to date. I'm looking forward to see how this show ends.

I agree. He's like a child and Cheyenne is his mother rather than his wife.

I'd like to see Van mature as the series progresses, but he never does. In fact, he only appears more immature as the show goes on.

And speaking of not growing....that young kid (I forgot his name so i'll call him the DJ clone from Roseanne )....it's the 4th season and he never seems to grow! He's still the same size kid he was in the first season. Does he stay this size till the end?!
By the 4th season even DJ began shooting up in height over on Roseanne. This kid just never changes.

I think s4 is testing their marriage for sure.

The youngest is Jake, he is definitely older if you rewatch s1 you will see a big difference. He will finally have some storylines soon.

While I agree that Van should've included Cheyenne more when making his decision about Denver was concerned, but actually Cheyenne was no different compared to Van when his settlement money was first given to him. At one point she was at the kitchen table asking her mom which vehicle went better with her eyes from the two pictures that she held up to each side of her face.

God bless you always!!!

Holly

P.S. Van going to Denver in my opinion though was the right thing to do because it only meant more money for them and Elizabeth and he remained true to his word about coming home as much as he could. Staying in Houston only would've made him wonder anyway what would've happened if he had gone to Denver instead. Now we know and if his spine issue had been discovered after making the decision to stay in Houston, his settlement money may not have been as much as he ended up getting by going to Denver, money that could not only go towards them getting a house, but also getting the rest of Cheyenne's college education paid for.

It may have been the right thing to do but deciding it all without even talking about it with your wife is a recipe for disaster. He was dumb to do that

I can't believe I forgot his name.

He always just squeaks out a couple of lines and then quickly runs out of the room or up the stairs. Maybe if I pop in season 1 i'd see the difference, but it struck me the other night when I was watching that he doesn't seem to grow and it's been over 3 years where i'm at in the show.

I'll finish season 4 this weekend and then onto season 5...I really don't want to finish it because i'm enjoying the series. I wish it lasted a few more seasons so I have more to watch.

BTW why was it cancelled? Usually sitcoms run for 8+ years and this only went 6. Seems strange it didn't go on longer because it's a good show. Was it low ratings that killed it?

And she's a hypocrite for that because remember how she scolded Van when he bought his car and preached about saving money and not spending it on expensive things? Now here she was shopping for cars that match her eyes.

No the network it was on, The WB, was discontinued after season 5 of Reba. The new network didn’t want reba on its schedule and basically cancelled Reba. They only renewed last min for s6 because they had been renewed for two more seasons prior and they would have to pay them if they cancelled it. I won’t spoil anything but the s5 finale was originally a cliffhanger that they edit out cuz they weren’t sure if that was going to be the series finale. Season 6 was the highest rated comedy on the new CW but they still cancelled it anyway.

It's a shame another network didn't pick it up after CW cancelled it. Though i'm only on season 4 so I can't really form an opinion until I see the end of the series. Maybe i'll think it was time to fold up tent when I get to it, but so far it hasn't gotten stale yet.
Who knows? By the time I get to season 6 I may be saying "Oh God end it!"

To me, the show deserved a full sixth season if it couldn't get anymore after that.

God bless you always!!!
