During the series we find out Lamont is working the Alaska Pipeline, Woody passed away, Rollo still lived in same neighborhood, Grady still lived in same neighborhood, Aunt Esther still live in same area but nothing about these characters
Donna Bubba No mention at all. I believe him and donna was still together on S&S. |

![]() Sanford was such a short live sitcom that didn't have any chance for characters to develop, or bring back old characters. |

Sanford struck me as a cash grab on both NBC and Redd Foxx's part. For NBC, they were still in the middle of their Fred Silverman-led "dork age" , and likely figured that having Redd Foxx back as Fred Sanford would give them a reliable hit at least on the short term. As for Redd Foxx, this wasn't too long after his short-lived variety show at ABC. He probably had to come back to the Sanford role with his tail tucked under considering that he essentially quit Sanford & Son for said variety show about three years prior. It all just felt like one last grasp of keeping the franchise going after the failures of the Grady spin-off and Sanford Arms.

In the very last episode, Donna and Fred were definitely still together. I'm pretty sure the last episode was when Fred and Bubba were attending night school. The teacher came over to Fred's house to tutor him and Donna was super jealous because she thought the woman was a date. Donna had no idea she was a teacher.

She starred in the first two episodes of season 2 (which was a two parter) as if she was going to move in with Fred then it turned out that they were married due to them signing the incorrect part of the old marriage certificate. Then, after those episodes, she disappeared with no explanation with the assumption that she went back home.
