Question Would a show like Who's the Boss not be able to fly today

What I mean is that a lot of the humor was derived from the incongruity of a man working as a domestic helper for a wealthy woman. And for lack of better words, when he finally “overcame” her reluctance, he bedded her. Plus, there was a man-hungry older woman in Mona, who threw herself at almost anyone who would pay her attention.

That almost describes the plot to 90% of today's sitcoms.

Was Mona even the first noteworthy "horny old lady" on a sitcom? I mean, Mrs. Roper from Three's Company, predated her by nearly a decade. The only difference is that Mrs. Roper only acted like that around her husband, whereas Mona on WTB was single.

I recently read a comment that said that a show like Who's the Boss? shows its age (remember that it debuted in 1984 and went off the air in 1992, which is over 30 years ago now) with Angela's character. While she's wealthy, they lack internet access. And it's not even mentioned in their presumably "wealthy" neighborhood.

Think about it this way, had Who's the Boss? been made say now, then don't you think that a very basic website would have been put up near the end but only as a 'place holder' at Angela's advertising agency? Therefore, clients could not interact with the Bower Advertising Agency.

So basically, a modern version of the show would likely have a heavy reference to 'online accounts' since they were in advertising.

If Who's the Boss? aired today, then Tony and Angela’s roles would still be referred to, but it probably wouldn’t be the focus of the show. But back in 1984, the premise of a single mother hiring a single father to be her housekeeper felt much more of a shock. The name of the show itself, was a play on the expectation that the 'man' was the head of the household, but the woman was the boss quite literally.

Believe me, that's all you're gonna see in the reboot if it happens. Sam on her cell phone. All popular and look at me.

I totally hope this reboot doesn't happen.

The original, when I'd watch, I was just a kid...I was 9 when it ended, and I'd watch mostly reruns and sometimes first run...She just seemed to act all "I'm so popular."

And now they are making the spinoff about her. When she's divorced with kids (most likely not even high school aged) and living in the same house and Tony moves in...

Let's see...DJ was widowed. Living in the same house with kids, none who were not in high school at first. Kimmy moved in.

And Sam is older than DJ. And she married in 1992, not in the 2000s. So we are to believe she had kids LATE in life and was it with Hank or 2nd or even 3rd ex husband?!

Totally can see her on her cell phone. Laptop. Ipad. It's gonna be all "Look at me I'm so popular...let's see if I can get a date on the internet!" They're gonna pull what they did on Punky Brewster, only Soleil was actually fun and inclusional and such. Alyssa, all we hear is she was pushy, ego, and thought she was miss popular...

WHY ARE THEY RUNNING OUT OF IDEAS?!
