Apparently, Two and a Half Men is taking ELR's spot next fall. I also wish CBS would move it back to Monday.

Apparently it's some kind of ice cream that's sold at Dodger Stadium.
Cool-A-Coos were awesome! Sorry for bumping such an old thread that I ran into accidentally. I just found out Cool-A-Coo went out of business and I'm crushed. I used to get several packages of them (3 per package) at USC basketball games when I was a student in the '80s. They were better known at Dodger Stadium. Also at grocery stores in the Los Angeles area and convenience stores like Arco gas stations. Whenever I saw one I had to grab it, in fact several.

They were basically two big oatmeal cookies with plenty of vanilla ice cream in between and coated with chocolate. The closest surviving parallel is called It's It, which is also a Western treat. I can get them here in Las Vegas at Albertson's for $2.89 for a 3-pack. They are similar to Cool-A-Coo but not as big or as pristine or as tasty.

I have no idea how Cool-A-Coo got into an episode about a Mets game, unless they were playing at Dodger Stadium. If it was a home Mets game that's absurd. Must have been a goofball who knew of Cool-A-Coos at Dodger games and didn't realize they were purely regional.

BTW, the inventor of the Cool-A-Coo was Leo Politis. I think the company went out of business and filed for bankruptcy a few years ago. Big loss.

Thanks for the info!!
I'm sure that was supposed to be a Mets home game, so it was a definite goof.

It sure was. I hope the episode was at least fairly early in the show's run. If it was 2003 or later they really botched it, since Cool-A-Coos were already extinct.

This is a blurb from the San Gabriel Valley Tribune on May 19, 2003:

"Cool-A-COO ice-cream bars used to be a staple at Dodgers games, approaching Dodger Dogs in popularity. But the company that made them is now out of business, and the man who invented them, Leo Politis, is broke. The current owners of the brand have had their business license revoked by the state, so you'll probably never see another Cool-A-COO bar again."

Here is a better link that shows the building where they were made, and the logo, with a little bit more info. Scroll close to the bottom:

Maybe I'm just Canadian, but what the heck is a coolacoo and why is it bugging me so much?
A Cool-A-Coo was an ice cream sandwich that consisted of two oatmeal cookies with vanilla ice cream in between, coated in chocolate. Here's some lady's article about it: http://articles.latimes.com/1999/aug/15/magazine/tm-239

Well you all can stop wishing. It looks like the Cool-a-Coo never died. As Awsi Dooger mentioned, the original proprietor, Leo Politis is still alive and kicking at 86. In fact he still makes the original ice cream sandwiches at a location in El Monte, CA now called a Mr. Cool. If you're ever in the LA area the place is called the El Monte Dairy and is located at 2440 Strozier Ave. South El Monte.

I watched this episode the other night! I'm glad you asked this question because I didn't know they were probably made for the show. Evidently I took it as truth, haha!

To me, that sounds like a Chipwich, which we ate in DC in the 80's.
