...from the original series
https://deadline.com/2019/11/revenge...io-1202779395/ ABC is developing a sequel to the 2011-2015 hit drama series, inspired by Alexandre Dumas' novel The Count of Monte Cristo, that starred Emily VanCamp and Madeleine Stowe. While the original Revenge was set in the Hamptons, the follow-up series, which will also be called Revenge, will use Malibu as its setting. Revenge creator Mike Kelley will pen the sequel with Joe Fazzio. According to Deadline, the Revenge follow-up "chronicles the story of a young Latinx immigrant. Guided by one of the original series’ favorite characters, she arrives in Malibu to exact revenge on a Sackler-esque pharmaceutical dynasty, whose insatiable greed lead to the murder of her biochemist mother, the destruction of her family, and a global epidemic. The project is still in early stages, and according to sources, the character from the original series who would bridge that show and the sequel has not been identified, and there are no actors attached to the new project at this time. There are a number of possible choices of fan-favorite Revenge characters who could be brought back, including tech wiz Nolan Ross and his friend, Louise Virginia Ellis." Kelley most recently created Renée Zellweger's Netflix series What/If, which starred Nolan Ross actor Gabriel Mann. Emily VanCamp has known about ABC's Revenge reboot for a month, says she's happy "they’re bringing back a specific person" The star of the 2011-2015 ABC drama is fine with ABC's planned Revenge reboot that will be led by a Latinx character. “I can’t say who, but they’re bringing back a specific person, and I love that specific person. So, it’s exciting,” VanCamp tells TV Insider. VanCamp wouldn't name that "specific person," but she's still friends with former co-star Gabriel Mann, who is rumored to be reprising his fan-favorite Nolan Ross character in the reboot. VanCamp says she was told about the reboot a month ago by Revenge creator Mike Kelley and executive producer Joe Fazzio. “I’m really happy for them! It’s exciting," she says. "That was such a special time in my life. I loved making that show and I think it’s just a great theme. We’ll see what happens. It’s very exciting!” ABC's planned Revenge reboot may become an anthology series “The idea would be in that series would be to do a different revenge story each cycle. Revenge becomes the narrative like an anthology,” ABC Enertainment president Karey Burke told Deadline. The development of a Revenge reboot with a Latinx lead and a star of the original 2011-2015 series was first revealed in November. |

ABC Passes on "Revenge" Sequel Series
by Michael Ausiello June 29, 2020 "Revenge" is apparently a dish best served only once. ABC is passing on its in-the-works follow-up to the 2011-15 Emily VanCamp drama, TVLine has learned. The potential “sequel” series was set to follow a young Latina immigrant who arrives in Malibu to exact revenge on a pharmaceutical dynasty that caused “the murder of her biochemist mother, the destruction of her family and a global epidemic.” Interestingly, the protagonist was going to be guided by one of the original show’s “favorite characters,” rumored to be Gabriel Mann’s Nolan. https://tvline.com/2020/06/29/reveng...-series-nolan/ |
