Fran Drescher and her fellow cast members from her 1990s CBS sitcom will come together for a virtual table read of the pilot via Zoom that will be posted to Sony Pictures' YouTube page on Monday morning. “Laughter is the best medicine! So, in these challenging times, Petah and I thought, wouldn’t it be great if we pulled together the original cast of The Nanny for a virtual read of the pilot?” Drescher said in a statement, referring to show’s co-creator and her ex-husband, Peter Marc Jacobson. “It’s a once in a lifetime Pandemic Performance for our fans around the world who are currently stressing in isolation and could use a real upper! It sure has given each of us a lift and we hope it does for you as well.” Watch The Nanny's "Pandemic Table Read" Fran Drescher and her fellow cast members (except James Marsden) came together virtually for a live reading of the 1993 pilot episode of the six-season CBS sitcom. |

Guess I'm not familiar with table reads, virtual or otherwise. I assume they're reading the script, so it's actually the actors as they are today...but only their voices? I know people will disagree with me, and I do understand the value of the virtually getting together, "live" or the virtual version of it...but I think generally, I'd prefer to watch an episode with its full set, etc, vs hearing a reading of the script. Is this a one-time thing or are they thinking of doing more episodes? (Full episodes of The Nanny pop up from time to time on different Youtube channels, different seasons at different times, etc, but they're there one minute and then not, or one pops up so that you can see it but it's hard to search for and find at a later date.) |
