It had been off the air for approximately three seasons (1983-84; 1987-88), which is a pretty lengthy hiatus even by 1980s standards. Granted, It's a Living, also made the leap from one of the big 3 networks to first-run syndication around that same time frame, also spent roughly three years off the air in-between.
And it was part of the trend to resume production of sitcoms for syndication (i.e. Webster, Silver Spoons, Punky Brewster, Charles in Charge, Too Close for Comfort, Mama's Family, and What's Happening!!), so it came with the territory. But outside of Charles in Charge, those other shows already had additional seasons to fall back on. I know that We Got It Made was a part of NBC's "Prime Time Starts at 7:30" experiment, where their owned and operated stations would air first-run sitcoms at 7:30 in the evening. But it was all for naught as the show was canceled for a second time after only one season. In fact, other than Out of This World (which was the longest running of the Prime Time Starts as 7:30 shows; running four seasons) and She's the Sheriff (which only ran for two seasons), none of the of Prime Time Starts at 7:30 sitcoms gained second seasons. |

I just saw a clip of this show after seeing a video of the female lead of this show by Dave Sundstrom on YouTube.
It's kind of like Three's Company in reverse although obviously nowhere near as good although I bet it's better than sitcoms today! |
