Default Not really funny

I was a big fan of the show when it was on the first time around. Like most people on this board, I was disappointed when they changed Mandy (even though I understand why) and when they killed of Bud. And now Ed is "retiring"?

The writing is different; not as funny as it was.

And, previously, Mike had plenty to say about the Democrats, but ever since the show has been back, not one word about Trump and the GOP. It's a though he knows it's a train wreck and has nothing to say.

I gave the show a chance , but I'll stick with the re-runs of the first version.

One interesting observation that I recently read is that Tim Allen's character on the show is for better or worse, like that Republican uncle that always brings up politics during Thanksgiving when you are just trying to eat. In other words, imagine if Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor from Home Improvement suddenly became an unlikable, mean spirited right wing douche, who is somehow portrayed him as always having to being in the right (no pun intended).

NO sitcom on these days is really funny.

The last consistently funny sitcom was the George Lopez show which ended around 2007.

^^^ To me, the only sitcom besides Last Man Standing that is worth sitting in front of is the one named Young Sheldon.

God bless you always!!!

It appears that Tim Allen and his writers were aiming LMS to be All in the Family for a new generation. But do you think that the execution of it was mostly flat? While it has a decidedly conservative leaning (I don't know if Tim has ever out and out said that he was using LMS as pulpit for conservative humor and/or Trump propaganda), did the debates feel more like strawmen than something truly thought-provoking? In other words, didn't it often feel Mike Baxter is someone who thinks everybody else in the world is stupid and his way is the only good way to live? Basically, it felt like he had some sort of a hero complex, where everyone else was wrong or dumb (especially the more liberal acting characters) and would ultimately swoop in and know what to do. It's also interesting that he constantly talked about being oppressed when he owned two businesses near the end of the series and a giant house.

Jo said Young Sheldon, not The Big Bang Theory. They are separate shows, I like Young Sheldon a lot better than TBBT.

Same here! I liked LMS but it went downhill with the move to fox and each season got progressively worse than the last.
