A reimagining of Chuck Norris' CBS 1990s action drama series is in the works, starring Padalecki, who's wrapping up 15 seasons of Supernatural. "The project, written/executive produced by Anna Fricke (Valor) and executive produced by Dan Lin (Lethal Weapon), is being shopped by CBS TV Studios," reports Deadline's Nellie Andreeva. "I hear the CW, home of Padalecki’s long-running series Supernatural, has emerged as a leading contender for the new show, with CBS, which aired the Chuck Norris-starring Walker, Texas Ranger, also considered a possibility." Andreeva adds: "Like the original series, created by Albert S. Ruddy & Leslie Greif, the reboot, in which Walker is getting a female partner, will explore morality, family, and rediscovering our lost common ground. At the center of the series is Cordell Walker (Padalecki), a man finding his way back to his family while investigating crime in the state’s most elite unit. Our broken widower and father of two returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years for a high profile case – only to discover that there’s even more work to be done at home. In a nod to the original series, Walker and his new partner — one of the only women in Texas Rangers’ history — are the modern day heroes our world needs, following their own moral code to fight for what’s right, regardless of the rules." The original Walker, Texas, Ranger aired for eight seasons on CBS, from 1993 to 2001. The revival would be a straight reboot like CBS' Magnum P.I. and MacGyver. It won't be a sequel series.

The Pretty Little Liars alum will take on the role of Liam Walker, the younger brother of Jared Padalecki's Cordell Walker in The CW's Walker. "Described as smart, slightly smug, but with a strong moral compass, Liam is Walker’s younger gay and conservative brother who has been recently promoted to assistant DA," per Variety. "Liam and Walker are close, but Liam gives his brother no shortage of tough love. Liam has always stayed close to home, often sacrificing his personal life in favor of his family duties. In Walker’s absence, he stepped up to take Walker’s kids under his wing. Liam’s close relationship with Walker’s son and daughter makes Walker slightly jealous."

The X-Files alum's Bonham Walker is described as a third-generation Texas rancher who's "sturdy, conservative and tough as nails but a family man through and through," and a man who speaks his mind.
