TMC Member Forum Idol Join Date: Jan 09, 2001 Posts: 124,387	Why didn't they get Dan Hedaya back as Cher's father They among the main adult characters, managed to get Wallace Shawn and Twink Caplan back (at least for the first season on ABC) from the movie as Mr. Hall and Miss Geist but they had Michael Lerner play Mel Horowitz (and Doug Sheehan when the show moved to UPN) instead of Dan Hedaya. Was Hedaya unavailable or he simply didn't want to commit to a series at the time.
