Question Favorite obscure Facts of Life characters

Obvious characters not eligible, Mrs. Garrett, the main 4, Beverly Ann, and perhaps Andy, George, the lost girls from Season 1.

Margo, the super mean girl that for some reason they decided should be a good companion for Molly in the New Girl Part 2.

She was your favorite?! That girl was horribly mean! Even Blair thought she was awful! Okay, not judging...

Because Boots St. Clair was a truly great character, despite her being awful. not exactly sure she's "obscure", but she was only in four episodes.

Oh come on, she HAD to be in more than 4!

[*Googles*]

Omg! She really was only in 4! Wow...well, she made such an impression in her appearances, I would have guessed she had turned up in more like 8 episodes!

I guess only 4 appearances out of 201 does qualify as "obscure", lol. Wow, Boots and Miss Mahoney were in the same # of episodes! But Boots had way more lines. And fans.

Boots was probably my favorite obscure character as well!

But I will say adding Roy as a recurring character was a nice touch for the show.

Well, she had a pretty big part in most of those episodes, so no doubt that plays into that perception. I think my favorite episode of hers is the Bad Chinese Food episode. It's hilarious: the horrible ovaltine and vinegar concoctions, the bad plates of food being pushed to the back of the table (and thus everything is pushed to the back of the table), and of course many of Boots' snooty lines.

I blame Miss Mahoney's Monstrous Mullet. (Okay, it wasn't a mullet, but I wanted a fourth 'M').

But Boots was blessed with some great zingers; Miss Mahoney just had her rabbits... though I did enjoy her back-and-forth with Mr. Bradley in I.Q.

Yay! We're Facts of Life Obscure Character Fan Twins!

Was Roy all that obscure? Wasn't he in, like, 8 episodes?

*googles*

YEP!

Well, I won't debate 8 episodes as obscure, but to me, that's almost Cousin Geri level. And I wouldn't call her obscure, seeing how she's included in the cast during panels and interviews.

But I agree Roy was delightfully bad!

I thought he was funny when he was singing to Jo while she was at that club all sunburned and whatnot. The way he was singing and dancing was funny to me.

I didn't mean that I liked her, but I thought she could have been the shows JR Ewing or Seinfeld's Newman. A character that people love to hate. A true villainess.

Oh, no, I wouldn't call either of those 2 obscure. I would have thought he was in more than 8 shows. It's amazing the perception daily recycled reruns have on you in your childhood!

By the way, did you know Cousin Geri was a Christmas gift? Her debut episode aired in Christmas Eve!

Well clearly the lost girls, particularly Sue Ann, win for me. But other than them... How about Tumpy? She was certainly memorable.

Hey, you can't name them! That's clear from the first post!

I could see that. First, you get to see how horrible she is to Jo, in "The New Girl, part 2". Then, viewers despise her even further, as she lays into Natalie in "Sex Symbol", and even Mrs. Garrett in "Gossip". Then, the coup de grace: it turns out she's behind Cynthia's suicide in "Breaking Point". Well, at that point, she's expelled from Eastland for her bullying ways, and is sent packing, back to Fargo.

Just some ideas I had, for a cruel character like Margo.

Huh! Hadn't thought about it that way. Too bad they didn't have Geri visiting Eastland as part of a heartwarming Christmas tale, her visiting her beloved cousin on Christmas Eve, the two of them making up on stage, and then enjoying some delicious holiday eggnog, by the roaring fire.

No way is Sue Ann obscure!

But Tumpy is a GREAT obscure character. And now, thanks to '80s, every time I see a 1980s picture of Linda Ronstadt, I think, "Tumpy!" And then, of course, I hear, "Tumpety, Tump Tump.."

"You don't hit obscure characters. They hit yooooouuu…"
