I've been trying to record this show on DVD and it has been impossible. Since LOGO has copy protected their feed I keep getting errors whenever I try to record the series. I have a DVD/VCR combo so I figured I wouldn't have issues recording to VHS and even that was a problem. While it didn't stop me from recording the show, the final product was completely in black and white. I said what the heck and tried to convert that VHS copy back to DVD only to get the copy restriction again. How is this possible? How does my VHS copy still have that copy protection?

Digital TV in particular, uses HDCP copy protection, which works through HDMI cables to protect copying to other than cable DVRs and such. |

I think something like this is bad if you want to recorded the programs airing in early-morning "graveyard slots" and watch them at a better time. But why would a channel do something like this if a show like It's a Living is not even (legally) available on DVD or SVoD?

I've been recording "It's A Living" a wonderful underrated series that brings me back nearly 40 younger years ago with my favorites Cassie & Dot!
I hope we get one more complete run, as they finally began with the real ABC episode 1 pilot, I also have been putting to DVD with professional clean edits since the commercials are inserted practically in the middle of sentences! "It's A Living" will never be released commercially on DVD due to the sonny playing musical songs, I compared episode #1 to the TV Land version I recorded approx 15 years ago and it matches the logo airings, though 5 minutes were probably edited out over a decade ago for syndication. I seriously believe this is most likely "It's A Living" last shot at national airings, as I don't see any of the other classic channels ever picking it up. I hope all enjoy the fantasy 4AM eastern dining at "Above The Top"! |

I also suspect that since LOGO is a Viacom owned channel, it shouldn't be that surprising that they would go out on an extra arm and leg to make sure that nobody tries to do anything funny with their programming. Namely, upload it to YouTube.

One thing that I've come to notice about Logo, ever since they started airing It's a Living late at night (before that, I believe Bewitched was in that timeslot) is that they cycle through the entire series rather quickly. Logo airs at least six episodes a night. I don't know for sure how that breaks down mathematically, but bare in mind that It's a Living only produced 120 episodes over six seasons and nine years!

Easy way to bypass it is use component instead of HDMI.
