Default Davy Jones was told he had the 'heart of a 25-year-old' before fatal cardiac arrest

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-year-old.html
  • Jones’s arteries had hardened from drink and drug use and he was ‘slowly dying’
But medical tests failed to detect the problems before fatal heart attack in 2012
US pathologist Dr Michael Hunter says he uncovered the damage in an autopsy

Quote:
Monkees star Davy Jones died from a heart attack a year after doctors mistakenly told him he ‘had the heart of a 25-year-old’, it has emerged.

In reality, Jones’s arteries had hardened from his drink and drug use and he was ‘slowly dying’ long before the fatal attack in 2012 when he was 66.

Friends claimed in a new episode of American TV series Autopsy: The Last Hours Of… that he went through several medical tests that did not detect the damage.

His biographer, Eric Lefcowitz, said: ‘The year before he died, Davy told us all that they’d said he still had the heart of a 25-year-old. He looked extremely fit and healthy for his age.’

But US pathologist Dr Michael Hunter says his autopsy told a different story, according to a report of the documentary in The Sunday Express.

Dr Hunter blamed alcohol and marijuana use for the poor state of Jones’ arteries, and said stress caused by the breakup of his third marriage to dancer Jessica Pacheco could have worsened the problem.

On the day he died, the Daydream Believer singer complained of a pain in his chest caused by heartburn.

Dr Hunter said the state of his heart suggested he was masking how much pain he was really suffering.

The pop icon – who was born in Manchester – married 33-year-old Ms Pacheo in August 2009.

In May 2011, the singer said he was having some of the happiest times he's ever had in his life.

He explained: 'We have love. We have friendship. She’s also aware of what I’ve done in music, and the fact that I no longer really need to prove anything.'

Jones joined The Monkees in 1965 along with Micky, Peter and Michael Nesmith – who did not rejoin the group for their shows last year – and they went on to record a number of hit records including Daydream Believer, Last Train To Clarksville and I'm a Believer.

Wow, in 2012 wouldn't you think there would be tests that would be able to show that sort of severe damage? The bottom line is the Doctor didn't order the right tests and took the issue too lightly or Davy himself took it too lightly. A sad result anyway that might have been avoided if the correct tests were ordered.

Exclamation That's The Name of That Tune

This reminds me of what happened to Basil Rathbone. He went to the doc's in 1966, had a checkup, was told he was healthy as a horse and went out the next day and had a heart attack and went to that great big 221 B Baker Street in the sky.

Sometimes the fickle finger of fate steps in and pokes us mere mortals in the eye.

Scares me to death! Literally !! I'm not even kidding here !! Heart disease runs in my family , several relatives on my Father's side of the family have died in their mid 50's- early 60's from heart attacks! ! Well I am 57 now, and I was diagnosed with high blood pressure which is a big factor to having heart problems. I take my BP meds and for the most part have been fine! However about 4 years ago I experienced bad chest pain, also pain in the arm, jaw pain (all the symptoms of a heart attack) went to emergency and got all the tests taken for the heart! They said my heart was fine , and I was diagnosed with severe anxiety disorder. Well to make a long story short I'm not so sure all the time, every so often (after that time I went to emergency at the hospital) I do sometimes get pains in my heart and these symptoms and well one day I just might fall over dead or go to bed one night and never wake up ! Sorry to be so dramatic, but I watched that Davy Jones episode on REELZ channel and it really got me scared and thinking??

Sorry to make this post about me, just kind of a warning to other posters who have gone through this like I do ! I love Davy and I know he is in heaven now but still too young to go , he should have had many more years!!

Thought Ask Not For Whom The Bell Tolls

Similar thing happened to me, though without any symptoms like you, in fact, I felt healthy as a horse. My Dad told me to have my blood pressure checked, OK so I did and it was sky high. Nurse told me she's had stroke victims in a nursing home with lower blood pressure than mine and was told to go immediately to the hospital. I didn't listen, I had a meeting I was supposed to go to instead. I did go to the doctor's though after the meeting and was given the triple whammy news. I had high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol. I had no idea I was so sick. I always say, "I liked it better when I was fat dumb and happy. I ate what I liked and didn't think twice about it." Those days are over. So, I've been taking pills for all those serious ills since. So far so good, I've lost 60 pounds. But if one day I drop dead at least now it won't be a total surprise. Basil will keep rooms for us.

I am also on BP medication, but eat healthy and also exercise to try and help the situation the best I can. I am currently 69 years old and they say I have a good heart, but with this sort of thing occurring you never know.
