Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron helped launch FX on June 1, 1994 -- when it was originally stylized as "fX" -- as a host on the cable network's Breakfast Time. (Future The Amazing Race host Phil Keoghan also worked on Breakfast Time.) Wikipedia notes that FX, which launched as Fox's cable sister network, offered one of the first forays into large-scale interactive TV with its use of the "fX Apartment," which would be used to introduce reruns of classic TV shows. "The 'f' in the channel's name and logo was rendered in lower-case to portray a type of relaxed friendliness; the stylized 'X' represented the channel's roots: the crossing searchlights of the 20th Century Fox logo," according to Wikipedia. In 2002, FX reinvented itself as a destination for daring and high-end TV shows with the debut of The Shield. To honor FX's 25th anniversary, TVLine is counting down the Top 25 shows in FX history.

I really liked the station when it was diversified with classics, movies, and sports. Now, it's pretty lame.

The station used to be so great. Haven't watched it in years. I haven't even watch any of the original shows since The Shield left the air.

When FX was launched in 1994 it was designed to show TV shows with a different attitude than CBS or any other channel and initially grew to show things like sports like NASCAR races and baseball games but what FX really excelled in was showing original dramas and shows like The Closer and The Shield and was known for showing new movies before any other channel did but if you look at FX today it has converted itself into a sitcom channel by showing reruns of Bob's Burgers and reruns of Married With Children and the occasional marathons of The Simpsons. I think FX will continue to grow and attract fans of sitcoms for many years to come

The Closer was not an FX original, it aired on TNT.
