I've uncovered what I believe is the best evidence yet for Hooterville's location.
Consider the following: S2/Ep06 : "One of Our Assemblymen is Missing" - it's revealed Hooterville resides in the Kangaroo State S4/Ep10 : "How Hooterville was Floundered" - it's revealed there are 52 governors in the USA S6/Ep20 : "King Oliver I" - it's revealed the state motto is "Have a Good Day" In our reality there are 50 states and 50 governors (plus DC). In Green Acres there is a 51st state, the Kangaroo State, with state motto "Have a Good Day". We can assume this new landmass is somewhere in the northeast part of the country, reasonably close to Chicago due to how frequently that city is mentioned. |

Can't be Northeast because it's not 80 degrees in the wintertime there.

Tennessee could be plausible, seeing as how our weather is so chaotic here....we literally started Oct in the 90s and ended it in the 30s!
BUT we know Hooterville is 300 miles from Chicago as Oliver once stated, so it could be 300 miles in any direction....for some reason I always wanted to think it was in Iowa or Kansas. If you wanted to surmise it was up North, I guess you could say it was close to St. Olaf, Rose's hometown from Golden Girls lol The way she described St. Olaf sounded a lot like Hooterville. |

Though Chicago seems to be the closest regular airport before one has to take tinier commuter flights then buses and finally the Cannonball to Hooterville. Oddly enough, Lisa seems to think Hooterville is not located in the Midwest! Even Oliver's mother doesn't seem to know the state but just keeps saying 'Hooterville' until the agent somehow pinpoints the locale when making reservations with a travel agent from NYC! So I guess it's somewhere within roughly a day's travel from Chicago NOT located in the Midwest. And its elevation changes from just 18 inches to thousands of feet depending on the episode!

Back in the early 1970s I thought that Hooterville was in New England or Upstate New York.

It's about 300 miles west of Mayfield, but we don't know where that is, either.

But doesn't Oliver point out that it's not the Kangaroo State? I don't think he'd have to do that unless Hooterville was in Australia.
