I don't think they ever give a real answer to that. It is suggested that it might be closer to the west coast, since there was a PJ and BH crossover. Then again, there is a few episodes where it is snowing and then others where the winter is hot rather than cold. In all honesty, I think Hooterville is where ever you want it to be.

Anyone who watches this show knows that Hooterville is in the Twilight Zone.

As mentioned elsewhere in regard to the Henning series: Paul Henning's wife was from Missouri, and her tales of her own childhood inspired the premise for Petticoat Junction -- which of course led to Green Acres later. Something to keep in mind, though no region is ever specified on the shows themselves.

This has been asked many times, and the best answer is the one above.

Take Highway 125, get off at Junction 89, take a right, go two miles and turn left at the little red barn, go two blocks and turn right on forest retreat road and that will lead you right into Hootersville.

Hooterville (Hootersville, as Lisa calls it) is located in Your Backyard, USA.
I think it's funny that the part of Hooterville that was on "Green Acres" was psycho and always full of crazy people and the part that was on "Petticoat Junction" was just the opposite. |

I think it's in Southern California next to Pixley.

I believe Hooterville is halfway between Mayfield and Hilldale!

On the Christmas episode Lisa stated it was 80 degrees, so it had to be somewhere in the South. There were also a couple of episodes where they got frost, but that can occur in the south.

I drove through Pixley, California a few times visiting friends up in Central California. It's a little farm town, not much different than fictional Pixley. (It's about 3 hours or so from Los Angeles but a world of difference, very rural) . And there is a railroad that runs along there too! They did name the town after the real Pixley! But I think based on the accents and Paul Henning having relatives from Missouri, that Hooterville would be around there. They mention Chicago being the closest big city though, so I'm thinking around where Southwestern Illinois, Missouri and Arkansas are, and I believe Tennessee and Kentucky are close to that area too.. Check out a map of that part of the country and you will see what I mean!
